What does a stand up like a sore toed butterfly 15 feet in front of the crowd with cameras? Give up? It is a 216 pound, 68 year old Sky God at his 50th High School reunion.
On my 50th reunion jump we had three jumpers with a total of 8500 jumps (Ok, Ok, Bob Schiermier had 7000 of them) and a total of 200 years of age. ( I had most of these). Bob Schiermier and Jerry Ward jumped with me on June 12 in the rural depths of Oklahoma at Ramona, Oklahoma. However without the most jumps and even without the lowest D number I was able inspire the most AWE from the crowd by being in the right place at the right time. Jerry was able to hit the field after having to make an evaluation jump just so he could go on the demo. Bob was probably afraid to land anywhere around where Ward and I were going to be flying and landing canopies.
Jerry Irwin will say he did it 4 years ago but this was the first time it was done in Ramona OK.
